MASTERPLANNING During 2003 LB were involved with a team of consultants preparing a comprehensive study for the regeneration of Wardieburn and Royston for the City of Edinburgh Council. The project involved both rehabilitation and demolition of housing stock to provide a platform for social improvement and dealt with ideas of social inclusion, sense of ownership, security and long term maintenance. A critical aspect of the study was the coordination of and participation in a public forum and exhibition of the developing ideas and gathering and responding to feedback. LB were then commissioned early in 2005 to build upon their earlier work and review the masterplan and develop more detailed proposals for the area. This included the design of a new primary school, new show homes for the area, new parks and landscaping and options for the treatment of the backcourt areas to make these safe and secure.
