Client : Ravelrig Riding for the Disabled
Location : Balerno, near Edinburgh
Value : £1.6 million
Completion Date : TBC

The Ravelig disabled riding centre is on a beautiful sloping site on the edge of Balerno, with views south to the Pentland hills and with the Water of Leith running at the foot of slope.
The current accommodation has been developed in a piecemeal way over a number of years and is now struggling to serve the busy schedule of activities that are provided by the volunteer staff. In addition the lack of an indoor arena makes the calendar of use reliant on fair weather and reduces the connection between riders and audience.
To tackle these problems the client has set out an ambitious project to not only create a new indoor riding arena with viewing area, but also to re plan and build new stables and support facilities.
The current proposals locate the new arena down the hill, cutting into the slope, to minimise the impact at the point of entry. The other facilities are arranged around the new arena, linking it with the existing external arena.
